The Goal of the Series is to explore the Wicker Park Gardens as a source of inspiration to YOU as you learn various painting and drawing techniques, to meet and share your work with others, and to assist in funding the 10,000 sq. ft. of gardens in Wicker Park.

The teacher is Maria Mariottini. Maria has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and a Master in Educating Adults from DePaul. She produced the Bucktown Arts Fest for 20 years and still serves as a juror. She is committed to the value of arts and community.

**The Garden As Inspiration Series is a Project of the Wicker Park Garden Club and Advisory Council WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP with The Robey Chicago and The Chicago Park District.

WINTER SESSION Mixed Media/Collage; Watercolor PLUS Textures (15 Students) $100 SIGNUP LINK

Mondays, March 1 – April 26 – 9 Weeks 6pm-7:30pm @ The Robey Hall   2022 W. North Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622

Maria Mariottini will teach The Garden as Inspiration Series Mixed Media-Collage-Watercolor class.  The class will be an 8 week long series that explores forms and textures in the Wicker Park Garden. The first session will be an intro to the process of mixed media /collage and the materials and technique’s.  Each following session will have a focus to encourage expanded vision.

STUDENTS PROVIDE THESE SUPPLIES and Wear a Mask and Social Distance:

    • A pad of mixed media paper approximately 8in x 12in
    • Watercolors block or tube
    • 3 water color brushes of various sizes
    • Masking tape – narrow (1/4in width) and wide (1in width)- ANY SIZE IS FINE
    • A board as least as big as your paper
    • Any types of markers or colored pencils
    • Paper towels or clean rags
    • ELMERS GLUE OR MOD PODGE SMALL BOTTLE , ONE INCH SPONGE BRUSH

There will be supplement materials supplied by the teacher. The supplemental materials will be used to explore texture and used to build collages. The goal after 8 weeks is to create mixed media college’s that show a variety of surface quality referenced by the Garden of Wicker Park.  This class is for all levels.

 

SPRING SESSION Watercolor: Spring Flowers in Wicker Park Gardens (15 Students) $100 SIGNUP LINK

Mondays, May 3 – June 21 – 8 Weeks – 6pm-7:30pm @ The Robey Hall 2022 W. North Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622

Maria Mariottini will teach The Garden as Inspiration 8 week watercolor class that explores forms and textures in the Spring Wicker Park Garden. The first session will be an intro to the materials and technique. Each following session will have a focus to encourage expanded skill in using watercolor. The goal after 8 weeks is to fill your notebook with observations and your paintings that will fuel ideas and aspiration for your future work.

STUDENTS PROVIDE THESE SUPPLIES and Wear a Mask and Social Distance:

    • A block of watercolor paper approximately 8in x 12in
    • Watercolors block or tube
    • 3 water color brushes of various sizes
    • Masking tape – narrow (1/4in width) and wide (1in width)
    • A board at least as big as your paper
    • Small watercolor palette
    • Paper towels or clean rags

 

SUMMER SESSION Drawing at the Wicker Park Gardens (15 Students) – $100 SIGNUP LINK

Mondays, July 12 – August 30  – 8 Weeks – 6pm-7:30pm @ The Wicker Park Gardens – 1425 N. Damen, Chicago, IL 60622

Maria Mariottini will teach The Garden as Inspiration Drawing Class, a 8 week long series that explores forms and textures in the 10,000 square feet of the Wicker Park Garden located in Wicker Park at 1425 N. Damen Avenue. The first session will be an intro and tour of the garden by Doug Wood, the garden coordinator and main designer. Each following session will have a focus to encourage expanded skill in seeing and drawing. The goal after 8 weeks is to fill your notebook with observations that will fuel ideas and aspiration.  This class is for all levels.

STUDENTS PROVIDE THESE SUPPLIES and Wear a Mask and Social Distance:

    • A blank notebook of drawing paper approximately 8in X 12in
    • A Set of PENCILS from Soft to Hard
    • A Set of Colored pencils
    • Eraser and a Pencil Sharpener
