MORE About Wicker Park Choral Singers

Wicker Park Choral Singers Mission is to Build Community Through Choral Music

“Choral music is a perfect example that something can equal more than the sum of its parts. By working together, we can do amazing things. In a time of divided ideologies, global uncertainty, and in a place like Chicago where entire neighborhoods can be overcome by violence and hopelessness, what better antidote than choral music to bring people together and make them a bit happier?”

– Mark Tomasino, Founder & Artistic Director

In 2008, two years after receiving his Bachelors of Music Composition from Illinois Wesleyan University, Mark Tomasino founded the Wicker Park Choral Singers in search of a post-collegiate choral community. Since that day, he has programmed and directed over fifty performances throughout the Chicagoland area, taking the stage in famed local venues such as Preston Bradley Hall, Symphony Center, 4th Presbyterian Church, and Millennium Park. With WPCS, he has made multiple television and radio appearances, including WGN Morning News, WFMT 98.7 FM, Good Day Chicago, and the final season of the Oprah Winfrey Show. A fierce advocate for new music, Tomasino has conducted several world premieres and continues to seek out new works and collaborations to further the choral art.

In addition to Illinois Wesleyan University, Tomasino has studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands and completed courses from Westminster Choir College of Rider University.  His conducting mentors and inspirations include J. Scott Ferguson, Laura Lane, James Jordan, and Donald Nally.

Outside of music, Tomasino works as a Solutions Architect for CareerBuilder and enjoys spending time traveling outdoors with his wife and two rescue dogs.

Stephanie has been involved in the Chicago arts community since she moved to the city in 2003 to study at DePaul University. For the last several years she has helped various performing arts groups advance their PR and marketing efforts including Chicago’s premier early music ensemble The Newberry Consort. As a choral music enthusiast and life-long choral singer, she is proud to be one of the founding members of Wicker Park Choral Singers. During the rest of her time she is helping people sell and buy their next homes as a Realtor for @properties.

Annie received her bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison which kick-started her career in the arts. Since moving to Chicago in 2016, she has performed with The Chicago Opera Theater, and has sung in The Apollo Chorus and Wicker Park Choral Singers. Annie has been a contributor to the artistic non-profit world for four years and currently serves as the Associate Director of Individual Giving for The Joffrey Ballet. She is a passionate arts leader, focused on collaborating with a diverse range of partners to ensure the promotion of exceptional artistry and art education. In her spare time, Annie enjoys running half-marathons, setting her friends up on dates, and goofing around with her husband.
