  3. Park Supervisor Report – John Davidson – John reported on past and upcoming events, Special Park Kids days and parties, commented on enrollment in classes offered by the Park District, teen activities in Area 2, Boys and Girls floor Hockey tournaments at Commercial Park, recent in-house restorations and repairs, and listed completed service on requested repairs. He discussed the Park Voyagers program to begin with a kick off event Tuesday, February 10-6-9pm. According to his notes he states that it will be held 3:30-4:30 and 4:30-5:30 pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays; the flyer states Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45 or 4:45-5:45. Both beginning Feb 16- May 9. John also reported that he used snow blower on all the sidewalks.
  4. Area 2 Manager’s Report – Cynthia Rosario – Cynthia reported that Ms. Rodriguez’s position is not filled and that there is still a hiring free in affect. Bridget is assuming responsibility for the morning class and John Davidson works with the Park Kids in the afternoon.
  5. Committee Reports
    1. Dog Park Update, Adam Housely -There will be two fundraisers. Adam will contact Janis Taylor to obtain quotes for benches. The water outlet is broken – work orders submitted to repair broken pipes underground, sewer backs up.
    2. Web Update-Tim Kolecke – Reported more traffic was seen on the website. Minutes are not uploaded but will be done soon. Information on Yoga and Boot Camp will be added shortly. In addition, Tim said he would speak with John Davidson and include all meeting held in the park on the website calendar-so the public can know the extent of what is happening at the park.
    3. Softball- Not Present with report.
    4. Chicago Flower & Garden Show-Doug Wood – all is going as scheduled.
  6. General Discussion – Park District Responsiveness to Community Projects – The group discussed problems that have occurred in past months that relate to poor communications on the part of the Park District – Confusion over who is a volunteer with no followup correcting Park District errors, Area 2-Central Region – lack of ability to maintain records on requests for partnerships and to list them in the schedule book, lack of program development and promotions for members of our community of all ages, poor communications with Park Partners-causing many to leave the park, events scheduled in the park by central region booking without proper planning and lack of concern by park staff for the integrity of the landscape and park hardscape, Lack of responsiveness to offer assistance in fundraising for a new roof. In addition, the group was concerned that none of the teen activities listed in Supervisor’s report included neighborhood children and no promotions were given on the volleyball class other than handouts in the Park.
  7. Result: We will not offer music series this summer and John Shirk stated that his volunteer group will not schedule organized support for events in the park this year or proceed with attempting to entice the park district to accept our offer to raise funds for a new roof. The group stated that they will work to correct the lack of professionalism exhibited by Central Region toward our park volunteers, and if the Park District corrects this poor behavior, we will again schedule programming in 2009.
  8. Denise Browning stated to both Volunteers and Staff members present – We should choose and event and give it one last chance to work.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:48.
