Wicker Park Advisory Council Meeting Minutes

Present: John Davidson (Park Supervisor), Jason Zaffaroni (Physical Instructor-PT), Bridget Jackson (Recreation Leader-PT), Jeanine Otte (1st Ward Flores Staff), Denise Browning (WPAC-Co-President), Doug Wood (WPAC – Secretary and Garden Club), Tim Kolecke (website), Clintina Taylor (Park Kids Parent), Elaine Coorens, Adam Housley (Dog Park), Andrew Wozniak (Wicker Park Committee), Julie Dickinson (Friends of Pritzker), Jessica Solares (Bucktown Music)

  1. Minutes – Doug Wood – September Minutes were read and approved.
  2. Treasurer’s Report – Richard Tilley absentsubmitted treasurer’s report in advance of meeting.
  3. Committee Reports
    • Dog Park CommitteeAdam Housley – Cleaning Date set for Saturday, November 7 – 10am. Lights wil
      be repaired within one week.
    • Web Site Committee – Tim Kolecke – More hits-website moved up in rankings. Updated classes, movies – times-names; Halloween events in the park. Uploaded survey – twitter twittering.
    • Softball – Ryan Jackson – Absent. No report
    • Gardens and Landscape Committee- Outside EventsDoug Wood reported on French Drains, Urban Assault Event Management, Vandalism to benches and Quotes for repairs, vandalism to gardens, Wicker Sculpture restoration grant proposal to WPB-SSA#33, WPGarden Educational Programming, Summer Landscaper, Wicker Park Conservancy Update, Contributions to gardens by CPD and WPGarden.
    • Education Committee -Clintina Taylor, Toni Anderson (absent), worked with John Davidson and other WPAC members to create a Park Survey. The results will be presented at the November meeting. Dates for upcoming Education Meeting to be announced.
    • PTC – Portable toilet Committee: Lisa Stauff -absent – waiting on quote to send with Budget Request.
    • Collaboration Committee – John Shirk-not present – meeting to be held 1st Tuesday November at 7:15.
  4. Staff Reports
    • Bridget Jackson (Recreation Leader-PT) – Bridget discussed her extensive background in working with children and gave the intentions behind the current Moms, Pops, and Tots Programming.
    • Jason Zaffaroni (Physical Instructor-PT) – Discussed upcoming programming for children.
    • John Davidson (Park Supervisor) discussed teen and children’s programming and an array of special events, including the upcoming Halloween Movies and parties.
  5. Jessica Solares (Bucktown Music) – discussed her method of working with small children and showed interest in developing a music partnership with Wicker Park.
  6. Susan Fontana reported that Jennifer Minkin – ARRC Ballet was interested in re-establishing a partnership with the park.
  7. Boo-palooza – Susan Fontana, Julie Dickinson, Denise Browning: Details of the event were discussed and arranged and discussed upcoming meetings and day of event needs.
